Treatment Plans From 15 November 2023

Evolution Of Our Treatments & Services
chris_chiropractor_osteopath_physiotherapist-doctor_meridian_massage_southampton

Chris Arscott

From 15 November 2023, our approach to treatments will be based on value provided (not just duration) to offer a more efficient and sustainable experience aligned with the evolution of current industry good practice.

We will be operating a Dual table set-up, one designed solely for spinal adjustments and the other for soft tissue bodywork.

Although we will be putting more emphasis on the spinal adjustments, we can’t deny the great results we’ve been getting from blending adjustments with soft tissue bodywork over the years, and we can’t deny our roots. So, the options to have soft tissue bodywork incorporated should always be there, we feel – but there will now be a distinct separation between the treatment flows.

HOW IT WORKS & WHAT’S INCLUDED

From 15 November 2023 there will be 3 treatment options for Client sessions.

NEW CLIENTS

This is for new patients, or those who have not visited for 12 months.

First Appointment/Examination + First Adjustment:

There will be an initial review of details provided on the consultation form, physical posture examination, muscle and nerve testing as required, blood pressure check, posture photos and functional tests to create a baseline for review in subsequent progress checks.

We will then proceed with the initial adjustment.

  1.    Spinal Adjustments:

This will be a flow of Chiropractic and Osteopathic manipulation techniques, there should be an expectation that joints will cavitate, click, pop and crack.

Remaining clothed, you start lying prone (face down) while we begin the flow and tune in, body reading and palpating, giving your body what it needs to heal, treating the cause; connecting with your energy and assessing where areas of dysfunction and blockages are, clearing and adjusting them whilst improving myofascial tensegrity patterns. We will advise you when to change position (turn to sides or when going face up).

An adjustment will end with a moment to integrate the changes.

  1.   Bodywork Session + Spinal Adjustment :

Following the adjusting flow, we move over tables as required, to work on any areas of soft tissue needs identified. This can be any type of remedial massage modality to treat affected areas. Based on any current symptoms or areas of tension you have, you can decline the previously described spinal adjustment flow and choose to go straight into soft tissue bodywork if you prefer.

  1.   Extended Bodywork Session + Spinal Adjustment :

Combining the adjustment flow followed with a longer soft tissue bodywork session for those who can benefit from lots of bodywork, or for patients that are less regular or with further to travel. These will now be the longest available sessions, lasting up to one hour.

A progress check will be scheduled (at no further cost) following 12 adjustments or 6 months, whichever comes first. This check-up will reassess the initial symptoms, a new posture check and review the treatment goals and frequency as necessary.

EXISTING CLIENTS

Existing Client pre-paid treatment plans (block bookings/membership credits) will continue on the existing basis until they conclude, which will give us the opportunity to assess and agree the right treatment plan for you in future.

Existing pay-as-you-go clients will be migrated to a new treatment plan to enable continuity following consultation and agreement about your needs and preferences. Please follow the guidance below based on your usual visit frequency and we can discuss the right way forward for you during your next visit.

SUGGESTED EXISTING CLIENT TRANSFER OPTIONS TO NEW TREATMENT PLANS

We have previously offered 45 minute treatments, known as single sessions and 90 minute treatments, known as double sessions.

Until 15th November, the website will continue to accept these bookings for 45 minute and 90 minute sessions. Please take full advantage of this and book your treatments as normal, they will continue to be honoured.

CHRIS’S PATIENTS

From 15 November 2023, with the exception of existing pre-paid bookings, these will no longer be available and there will be no directly comparable treatment sessions for those existing patients that previously booked single or double sessions, as we have stepped away from the duration-based method.

We will be separating the Spinal Adjustments from the Massage / Soft Tissue Bodywork, so the following options will help you to decide (with advice from your therapist) which new treatment plan is most suitable for your needs going forwards.

Please check your normal visit frequency below for options that feel most relevant to you.

Those existing patients who would prefer only massage and soft tissue work or non-remedial modalities, please note that the new adjusting flow is totally optional, at the appointment you can always decline that part of the treatment and choose to spend more time on the bodywork.

NATASHA’S PATIENTS

Until the end of the year, whilst she is in transition, Natasha will not offer the sole ‘Spinal Adjustment’ service. She will however offer both the ‘Spinal Adjustment + Bodywork’ and the ‘Spinal Adjustment + Extended Bodywork’ services as well as her own ‘Extended Holistic Treatment’ (up to 90mins) with a slower pace and focus on relaxation.

All fees are based on sessions with Chris, Natasha’s rates will be lower than the examples given below. Both can be reduced by a further 20% if using our block booking offer.

If you have previous visited for 45 minutes weekly, then we suggest either:

a./ Change to use the new ’Spinal Adjustment’ service, costing £50 per session, which will save you £15 per week (more if you use our block-booking discount option). This will be a new treatment flow you won’t have previously experienced, won’t include any massage or soft tissue work, but will still give you great healing outcomes.

b./ If you’d prefer or feel you need some massage/soft tissue work as well, then we suggest you change to use the new ‘Spinal Adjustment + Bodywork’ service, costing £100 per session, which will give you some bodywork alongside your adjustments. You could always mix and match week to week between suggestions a. and b. to suit your preferences.

a./ Change to use the new ’Spinal Adjustment’ service, costing £50 per session, which will save you £30 per month. This will be a new treatment flow you won’t have previously experienced, won’t include any massage or soft tissue work, but will still give you great healing outcomes.

That way we can assess your needs and create a suitable care plan at the suggested treatment frequency to meet your established needs. Sessions often need to be frequent to start with, but we hope that as you begin to heal, we can extend times between treatments.

If you only visit us yearly or as a one-off or a treat, then we suggest you go through our new patient assessment experience. That way we can assess your needs and create a suitable care plan at the suggested treatment frequency to meet your established needs.

Sessions often need to be frequent to start with, but we hope that as you begin to heal, we can extend times between treatments.

In the interests of transparency, we wanted to share some of the thinking that has informed our development strategy & is driving these changes:

  • We have previously been limited to the number of patients we can treat in a day.
  • Our waiting list has meant that it often takes patients up to 2 weeks or longer to get an appointment,
  • Us working more hours just isn’t sustainable beyond the short term. With the new shorter adjustment and bodywork sessions, we should be able to see patients much sooner and at the frequency that they prefer.
  • By introducing new Chiropractic style adjustment services in November which are shorter and cheaper than previous massage/bodywork services, we can also cater for the demand for longer sessions which include massage/bodywork.
  • The price point for an adjustment, has been designed to be cheaper than our previous sessions as an incentive to increased frequency of care and the benefits that are derived.
  • We have decided to stop trying to benchmark ourselves against other local therapists on price as it has been pointed out to us that:
    • We are not directly comparable but have a unique, value-for-money offer in one place.
    • We have much more experience, get better results, including more soft tissue techniques and modalities that drive the best outcomes, combine chiropractic spinal manipulation, osteopathic mobilisation and articulation, prescriptive exercise programs like that of Physiotherapists, great treatment plan options and aftercare.
  • We have proven to be the best, as Multi-Award-Winning therapists that will never stop learning and progressing, all to serve you better, faster and more efficiently. We spend thousands every year on extra training courses and a lot of time reading and researching in pursuit of dedication to our art.
  • We’ve moved to a more modern clinic with Improved facilities, including disabled access and a lift. There’s lots of investment going into the building; window refurbishment ready for the winter months, Air Conditioning system ready for the summer months and an on-site coffee shop/cafe that will be open to the public in December – great for incorporating a bit of chill time when paired with an adjustment.
  • The cost of doing business has risen. A lot goes into creating the scene, setting and flow of your treatment, much preparation behind the scenes, not just with our bodies, but with paperwork. Did know we have a PA that helps with preparing and transcribing our clinical notes?
  • Raw materials used are of the finest quality, mostly imported, Couch roll from Italy, Lotions from Belgium

It’s taken many years in practice to be able to body read quickly the way we do, to skilfully assess the key areas of dysfunction, tension or subluxation and then administer the correct treatment modality, treating the cause, giving the patient what they need, facilitating their healing.

A lot goes on behind the scenes before and after your session:

  • Consultation and medical history review
  • Treatment planning
  • Previous notes review
  • Session note taking
  • Prescriptive exercise/rehab plan set up and review
  • Research into specialist conditions
  • Aftercare and advice

We are always looking to continue to create and add value for money to our Bodywork services by:

Continuing to study the latest evidence-based practices and techniques that will benefit patient outcomes,

  • Attending regular training courses to attain new skills or refresh old ones,
  • Adding new modalities,
  • Considering improving scene, setting and general comfort throughout the treatment experience.

This is why Chris and Natasha continue to represent great value for money as your local experts in the field.
